STARLET PHILOSOPHY

First and Foremost:  We want our kids to be KIDS!  We have different age divisions and we want our kids to look their ages!  Missing teeth, braces, is all part of childhood and is not our focus. In fact, several of our Grand Nationals Queens had braces or missing teeth!

No one could describe our company better then Dr. Phil did in his July 7, 2011 show, "Competing for the Title".  Dr. Phil illustrated this is a time of controversy however, there are many strong attributes to be obtained from pageants if however, they are the RIGHT pageants!  We are that pageant and have always been.  Perhaps the main reason we continuously refuse the likes of, "Toddlers & Tiara's" to be any where near our venues!

If you're all about the "Glitz" this is may not be your best choice.  If you are looking for something more, read on:

We believe it’s not all about winning or losing but about participating!

Our system is designed to build character, poise and self-confidence, which will help your child succeed in every aspect of life! This process exposes our youth to some of the greatest fears people of all ages face today.  You cannot just buy this, you need to EXPERIENCE it!

The glitz of all the trophies, crowns and banners will create the same jitters an adult will have facing a job interview or promotion. (Think about that!)

PUBLIC SPEAKING:

Listed as the number one fear, “Glossophobia” that people have!

Just a few more facts:

· FACT TWO
Fear of public speaking has negative effects on careers and influences success in life negatively when you do nothing about it.

· FACT THREE
Three out of every four individuals suffer from speech anxiety: that's 75 percent.

· FACT FOUR
Up to 5 percent of the world population, yes, hundreds of millions aged between 18 and 54, experience this kind of social phobia in any given year.

· FACT FIVE
Women and men are equally affected. Although there are fear of public speaking statistics that present figures in which more women suffer from speech anxiety related problems.

· FACT SIX
More men than women seek treatment to cure fear of public speaking. Some public speakers have turned to beta-blockers or hypnosis therapy to find relief. But I prefer easy online self-help materials, like Instant Speaking Success, one of the best selling self-growth books.

· FACT SEVEN
Social phobias often start with shyness in childhood or early adolescence, and progresses during adolescence, according to scientific studies of fear of public speaking statistics.

Our contestants will learn to walk out on stage, bright lights in their eyes, take the microphone hold it correctly and learn to speak

clearly.

INTERVIEWS:

Depending on competition level, Nationals, Winter, Etc Contestants will sit down in a quiet room and be personally interviewed by 2-4 judges with age appropriate material and or, be interviewed on stage!

Interviewing skills need to be started as soon as possible.  Very few of us are able to master this technique quickly and easily.  It can cause great anxiety similar to public speaking. How you deal with negative out come can shape your entire life!

The lessons we strive for is to keep things in perspective.  Everyone has an opinion and not necessarily right or wrong.  Learn to deal with these feelings and pick yourself up and come at it again!  Don’t ever give up on your dreams and continue no mater what obstacles are in your way!

Our National competitors are able to stand up in class, do a book report, make a mistake in front of their peers, perhaps even have someone snicker then be able to smile with enthusiasm and continue without be bothered in the least!  When they enter the job market they will walk in to their interview with their head held high and not give up until they have the career of their choice. They will have better careers and be better paid!
